Some miser acquaintance of mine in his anti world of warcraft campaign to satisfy his ego and prove he's better than his wow playing friends convinced me to play GuildWars, which would be my first mmorpg. I tried it and liked it, said miser went off to play world of warcraft; hilarity ensued and I must say, the amusement never stops.

I was at Media Play, a now defunct electronics store in my area. After browsing the GameCube games, I decided to randomly check out the PC games, something I seldom did as my PC could not handle very many new games. The Guild Wars Collectors Edition box caught my eye. I bought it, only to be disappointed that it would not work on my old PC. Since I needed a new PC soon anyways, I bought one the next week, and viola!

Cool Bought it!

My friends friend was playing it and he kept telling me how great it was so I went to EB GAMES and bought a copy of prophecies about 2 1/2 years ago. I ended up buying it before my friend who told me about it did.

This really isn't a very interesting thread. (Like the one I posted a few minutes ago with all the bad comments *Sigh*)

I had been playing free text based online mmo's when I heard about wow. I did a bit of research on it, it looked cool, until I saw the monthly fee. Whilest looking at reviews I saw listed under "similar games" (think it was on gamespot) guild wars. It got a good rating, I went down to the pc shop and it was there (to my amazement in south africa :P). 2+ years later and here I am, happy with it as ever

was looking for a new MMO to play, bought Guild Wars after reading good reviews about it, at first was disappointed with it, uninstalled then two months later told myself that I didn't spend $50 for the game to sit there and basically forced myself to learn it enjoying it ever since.

My daughter had said that she'd like to try some MMO game so as a responsible parent I scouted around for available options. There was this really cool looking new RPG called Guild Wars fresh out of mint with glowing reviews and what do you know, no monthly fees. Purchased and installed, I naturally had to check that the content was suitable for children. Still working on it, I'm so ... thorough, yeah, that's it, just thorough. Really thorough

Daughter got her own account, too.

The cover art of Eve caught my eye in the "new release" RPG section, looked decent from the inside cover description, then noticed it was online, and moved on. About a month and a half later I was really looking for a new game and it was pretty much it so I gave it a go and am still here today (first online game I ever cared much for outside of some MUDS in the 90's).

Took my friends about 6 months to convince me to buy guild wars. This whole time, they were playing. I got factions when it came out, then brought proph, and now i play more than they do

Ah yea I remember it; there was a video game review channel on Sky, and when I had nothing to do I watched a bit of it; well everytime I went on that channel, I saw this reviews by this guy...when I first say the in game action I was like: "oh wow I like this kind fo games" but nothing else. Then as I kept seeing reviews, I started loving the game, and at a certain point the guy showed a Dragon Sword....that's when I decided to go buy it xD

Dragon Sword ftw!!

Similar story, my boyfriend got Prophicies not long after release, and was constantly bugging me to try it. So I made a character, and got hooked. I ninja'd that copy of GW, since my characters on that account were far superior to his, lol. He had to go get another copy of his own. And we're still playing after almost 3 years.
